  19. As far as  I know, it is just what the name says: A Visual C++ v. 4.0
  20. developing environment, with some of the bells and whistles removed.

  35. iv)   It is a serious attempt to tap the low-end/educational market.
  36. That eliminates your guess i) (It is here to stay for as long as that
  37. market exists); it also eliminates your guess ii) (I have not tried it
  38. but it seems to have everything anyone might need for most "serious"
  39. work); and it eliminates your guess iii) (It seems the Standard Edition
  40. has been worked on to allow it to  run effectively on smaller systems
  41. than the "Professional" one).
